The challenge
Mazda / Mitsubishi of Fresno, an auto dealership in Fresno, CA, ran aging metal-halide and fluorescent lighting across its parking lot, showroom, and service bays — expensive to power and maintain, and a presentation and safety concern for a customer-facing site that operates well after dark.
The solution
NRG Incentives retrofitted parking-lot pole lights, showroom troffers, and interior can lights to high-efficiency LED, and secured a $5,000 utility rebate through PG&E to offset the cost — bringing the net cost to $169,379. The new fixtures carry a 7-year warranty.
The results
The retrofit delivers $30,689.73 in annual energy savings — about $2,557.48 a month — recovering the $174,378.65 investment ($169,378.65 net of the rebate) in roughly 5.52 years, then compounding into net savings. Crisper, even light lifts the look of the lot and showroom while cutting the maintenance load.
